Saurin Shah currently consults with established and start-up companies in medical devices and associated care pathways. He was with Medtronic for 13 years and held various leadership roles in the Cardiac Rhythm Heart Failure (CRHF) business. Most recently, he was Sr. Director of Medtronic Monitoring Inc., a subsidiary of Medtronic Inc. He led the acquisition and integration of a company to start this new subsidiary at Medtronic. Further, he led the establishment of Monitoring centers and Customer Support functions in the US and abroad for the cardiac diagnostics business. Prior to that he was Senior Director of Global External Diagnostics, responsible for working with the International Business leaders and their teams to understand barriers in their respective markets and lead the development and commercialization of ambulatory cardiac diagnostics products and solutions.
Since joining Medtronic, he has held several R&D leadership roles in the CRHF Business, including leading the functional groups of Communication Systems Engineering, MRI Technology, Instruments Development and Operations, and Research and Feasibility Systems. Some of his leadership achievements in the R&D roles were leading the team that developed and secured FDA approval for world’s first MRI conditional pacemaker system, and developing and implementing wireless communication systems in high power (ICD, CRT-D) systems, and associated programmers and home monitors. Prior to Medtronic, Saurin was Executive Director of R&D at Imation Corp and had several leadership roles in R&D, Business Development and Manufacturing Operations during his 15-year career with 3M and Imation in the Data Storage industry.
Saurin has a MS in Plastics Engineering and a MS in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Gujarat University, India.
